Ian has 35 years of experience, 16 with a bank-owned securities firm where he served as a Vice President and Financial Advisor and 19 with Raymond James. He works with advisors Meaghan and Mark, assisting with our team's research and investment strategy as well as our quarterly newsletter.
Ian graduated from University of British Columbia in 1980 with a Bachelor's degree in Commerce (finance major). He completed the Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI™) designation and the Chartered Financial Planner (CFP®) course, as well as the Canadian Academy of Senior Advisors course.
Ian is very proud that many of his original clients who joined him when he started in the business in 1985 have worked with him for his entire career as a financial advisor.
Ian takes pride in his community involvement. He served as a Boy Scout leader for nine years and has provided financial support to the Cedar Boy Scouts, Community Kitchens, Amnesty International, Nanaimo United Way and the Vancouver Island University, the Unity Church refugee program, the Linley Point Gyro Park, and Eden Gardens, the Nanaimo facility that provides dementia care. Ian has also provided support to the Nanaimo Canoe and Kayak Club, both financially and as a volunteer for the B.C. Summer Games.
A long time Nanaimo resident, Ian enjoys spending time with his wife Carolyn, who spent her career as a nurse at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, and his grown children Meaghan and Max. When not doing investment research, Ian enjoys running, tennis, outrigger canoeing, skiing, and playing guitar.
